Soon after his killer debut, he collaborated with Electro House allstar, Lazy Rich, to produce yet another dancefloor killer. But the British Dubstep/Drum & Bass Duo has also had an incredible year with their release of their remix of “Forever” by Drake and two originals “Innocence” and “Me & You”. Their remix of Hot-n-Fun is also worthy of recognition. They recently signed with the Chase & Status recording label, MTA, which is huge! Best Remixes of 2010:

This section has proved the toughest to determine thus far. There are so many good remixes and artists that I want to give shout outs to. Unfortunately, there can only be ten (with few honorable mentions of course). So here we go for the Best Remixes of 2010. Enjoi:

It does not matter what I am doing but this song just gets me pumped. I will admit that the Intro is a little long and tedious, but it is well worth the wait. Right around the 2:30 mark, this anthem kicks off. Madonna’s sweet vocals are matched perfectly by the gritty synthesizers and heavy drums from Felguk. This remix was executed perfectly and for that reason, Felguk earns the number one remix of 2010 and a place next to my heart. Congratulations.

Also worthy of a top remix of 2010 is Junkie KL’s remix of Cooler Couleur by Crookers. For all intents and purposes, 2010 was a bad year for the Italian Duo. For some reason they decided to switch from their face melting, Italian Electro House sound to a more indie and relaxed feel. Fuck that. It was terrible. The original version of this song is the perfect example of their poor, new taste in music. But Junkie XL’s remix was clutch because it rekindled the dying Crookers vibe. But it was also an incredibly well done remix. So grab your air guitar and get ready to jam to the second best remix of 2010. Thank You, Junkie XL.

2. Cooler Couleur (Junkie XL Remix) – Crookers feat. Yelle

Mr. V’s vocals are reasonably cheesy but they are matched perfectly by the funky bassline that Fedde drops on this track. So feel free to “slapa da baiss” to this dancefloor killer.

3. Back & Forth (Fedde’s Future Funk Remix) – Fedde Le Grand ft. Mr. V

I was hooked on this song before I listened to it. My focus was on the “…Ghettohouse Remix” in the title. This remix more than exceeded my expectations. For the title alone, this remix deserves a top spot, but it’s also incredibly durty. Thank You, DJ Kue.

4. Tik Tok (DJ Kue’s Ghettohouse Remix) – Ke$ha

For melting the world’s face off in approximately 3.48 seconds, Skrillex’s remix of “In For The Kill” deserves the #5 spot.

5. In For The Kill (Skrillex Remix) – La Roux

Kue slays it yet again with another dancefloor killer. It is incredibly well done and it actually makes Usher sound cool. Pitbull still sucks though. Again, Thank You, DJ Kue.

6. The DJ Got Us Falling In Love (DJ Kue Remix) – Usher feat. Pitbull

This remix is one of my favorite songs, let alone one of the best remixes of 2010. Wolfgang Gartner has a very techy and almost absurd Electro House sound. I enjoy listening to his music yet this remix really makes him accessible to the less refined taste in house. He maintains his traditional sound and infuses a poppy feel to produce a huge banger. Thank You, Wolfgang Gartner.

7. Morning After Dark (Wolfgang Gartner Remix) – Timbaland

For the hilarious vocals and face-melting bass, Deadmau5 earns the #8 spot.

8. Paco Di Bango’s World (Deadmau5 Remix) – Orlando Voorn

This DJ duo receives the #9 spot for their remix of “Move Your Feet”. They took all the best parts of the original and, quite frankly, made it better. It is also extremely accessible to the masses so it is a guaranteed dancefloor killer. Thank You, Nejtrino & Stranger.

9. Move Your Feet (Dj Nejtrino & Dj Stranger Mix) – Junior Senior

“Like a sprained ankle, I ain’t nothin’ to play with.” I am just going let the stupidity of that line resonate for a second… But have no fear, Nero absolutely killed this one. They infused their filthy dubstep with a shitty pop song and made an another insane anthem. This remix is so good that you won’t be focused on Drake’s atrocious rap. What else would you expect from the Best Artist of 2010?… Thank You, Nero.

For better or for worse, Dutch House came and went with the summer wind. But nonetheless, it was a huge fad earlier this year so I am going to honor that. I present the Durtiest Dutch of 2010. Enjoi:

Although this may not be the Durtiest Dutch house song I have ever heard, this is definitely a timeless classic. Most Dutch House was borderline painful in large quantities. More Dutch:

DJ Chuckie and the durty dutch crew took house music by storm towards the beginning of this past summer. Yet, to me it seemed that he recently withdrew from the house scene. I was wrong, and thankfully so. He is still making tracks but quite frankly they are pretty bad. However, this remix is an exception for the breakdown is super durty. Lately, there’s been a Drum and Bass trend sweeping the tastes of local house music enthusiasts, including Rafa Alvarez, Austin Smith and Austin Finley. With their crazy DnB shuffles (seen here), the crazy drum lines, and nasty sounds, I figured I’d see what all the hoopla was about. Now I’m hooked on this stuff and I have to share it with you all. I picked up a couple of EP’s by the likes of Noisia and Spor. Both are UK DnB artists who know how to throw down some sick beats. So check this out. I’m posting Spor’s Conquerors and Commoners EP. My goodness gracious! If you like progressive house as much as I do, then you are about to enter heaven. Most of these songs can be found on Beatport’s Top 100 Progressive house tracks, but I’ve done all the work for you. So be patient and give these songs a listen. For those of you new to house sub genres, progressive house is very slow and repetitive. The different sections of the song build on one another to make really deep and relaxing beats. I listened to the song on the YouTube when I was browsing songs by Gigi Barocco and I fell in love as soon as the first breakdown dropped. This remix is so hot, so deep, so heavy and, oh, so nasty. Thus, the only word to describe this unfortunate event is ghetto. So, I will be sure to save this time. But I originally composed this post to make up for all the time that has passed since my last. If you have some prior math education, preferably basic arithmetic covered in kindergarten, then Vaski’s music can be summed up by this simple equation, Vaski = DatsiK+nasty. Although DatsiK’s Swagga is still the craziest song I have ever heard, Vaski has consistently made sick and nasty dubstep that crushes DatsiK’s other songs. So if you like DatsiK and some nastiness on the side, you will definitely like Vaski. Enjoi:

Breakbot is definitely not a house artist by any stretch of the imagination. The shift has happened and, unfortunately, we are in the very thick of it. I still hate the original, but the upbeat bass and simple synthesizer riff add a very nice touch to a possible dancefloor killer (it’s just a prediction). So feel free to giggle and Enjoi:

In light of recent head injuries, I would like to point out that I’m still alive and still listening to house. However, my head has needed a break from the heavy hitting, skull shattering electro house beats. Luckily, there is progressive house. Progressive house provides the perfect alternative because its all about deep and laidback progressive house beats that entrance you with their subtle yet absolutely captivating synthesizers. So, here are some of the progressive house tracks that I have collected. All of these tracks are awesome to put on your presleep playlist or to just trip out to during a boring lecture. So sit back, relax and enjoi the ride.

Let me start this off by telling all of you that this vocal track puts the cheese in Cheese’o’Saurus Rex. The vocals are so cheesy that they make me chuckle a wee bit at the beginning of the song, and yes they are easily memorized so you’ve been warned. Yet, I can’t help but to feel that they are what really hold the song together because they are a perfect complement to the dramatic synthesizers that make up the bulk of this song. The intro starts of with said vocal track and then drops in with a super deep and relaxing beat that I, and hopefully you, can’t get enough of. Enjoi:
Star (Club Mix) – Floorphilla Feat. Majuri

EDX is one of my favorite progressive house artists right now because he utilizes really ambient synthesizers that are so relaxing. But he also knows how create simple and fun breakdowns. The song starts off slow and steady allowing for all of the synthesizers to build and combine in to a perfect harmony. It has multiple breakdowns but of course the best are towards the end. The first breakdown is deep and simple. The second builds on the previous breakdown and EDX throws in some more ambient synthesizers and rhythms to make a very dramatic, deep and hypnotizing breakdown. The third is identical to the first yet still as relaxing because it is perfectly placed to bring the song to a close. Enjoi:
Casa Grande (Original Mix) – EDX

I collected this song many moons ago when i couldn’t get enough of progressive house. The blog which really started off my house music addiction but is dead now but will always be remembered: Groovebastards. Lonely Girl is more upbeat than the previous tracks but the vocal track is so much sexier. Her voice just caresses your ear drums in a way that makes you want it to never let go. The original version is a trance song but PROFF did an excellent job slowing down the vocals and adding an awesome progressive house beat behind it. There are multiple breakdowns but as is the case with the previous song, the best breakdowns are toward the end. The breakdowns build upon each other until it reaches the vocal breakdown, which is the heart and soul of this song. The vocals and synthesizers combine and drop in to a laidback and fun beat. Enjoi:
Lonely Girl (PROFF Remix) – Above & Beyond Pres. Oceanlab

This song is not progressive house but it deserves credit because it is very relaxing and oh so satisfying. Florence + The Machine produce trippy and relaxing songs with awesome vocal tracks. I would like to commend Jack Beats for making the perfect song to accompany these vocals. They stray from their standard style and produce a deep and relaxing beat with no heavy wobbly breakdowns. But they leave their mark on the song with their trade mark bass line.

I’ve been really excited to post these tracks that I found both recently and quite some time ago; however, my efforts have been impeded by the oppressive force that is Francis Parker School. But that is besides the point for I am back with house and I hope you all enjoi it. And so, without further ado, I give you a fun mixture of all sorts of heavy house/dubstep:

It’s a true love story. The moment I heard this guy’s music, I fell in love with electro all over again . This guy is sick because he brings heavy synthesizers and intense bass that can only be described as chaos. But within this chaos lies an irresistible beat that one cannot help but dance to. Raw Chicken is a very nice complement to its predecessor because it contains the same heavy synthesizers, yet it has a completely different feel to it. The synthesizers are staccatoed nicely to give it a much cooler and glitchier feel. It starts off slow but then it drops in out of nowhere with a fun and equally heavy verse. Enjoi:

Dada Life surprised me with this remix because I am normally not a fan of their music (I guess this gives me an incentive to do a little more research). But I am more than happy to be proved wrong because this remix is sick. They start it off hot with a deep and heavy bass that crescendos in with a chopped vocal track to drop in to probably the most simplistic, yet heavy breakdown I’ve heard in quite some time. But the heavy riff comes to an end and cuts out to a very trippy and borderline cheesy bridge back in to the original breakdown. This song will have you on your feet in no time… I guarantee it. Symphonies (Dada Life Remix) – Dan Black (feat. Kid Cudi)

Apparently, Jack Beats has stormed on to the U.K. house scene and made it to the top in no time at all. Although I have just began to listen to their music, I can see why they are such a sensation. The combine the wobbly synthesizers of dubstep with the simplistic house beats to create a genre of their own. U.F.O. is a nice summary of the type of music they produce because it has the bass and the nasty wobbly synthesizer. And of course, it wouldn’t be dubstep if they didn’t sample those stupid Sci-Fi quotes. Said cheesiness aside, this song is sick. Enjoi:

There is no need to worry, for I am back with more house! It’s been quite some time since I have posted and I just want you all to know that I haven’t forgotten about you. To compensate for lost time, I’m posting some hot Electro tracks fo’ yo asses, at 320 kbps of course. Designer Drugs is all about distortion and heavy synthesizers so sit back, relax and get down.

I found this song a long time ago but it has just recently embedded itself back into my music tastes because it’s so heavy. The deep choir, at the beginning of the song, gives off a very ominous vibe, similar to that of the Temple of Time in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. But for the most part, that Zelda reference was completely irrelevant. The deep choir is joined by a nice drumline to lead in to the breakdown. Said breakdown comes in hot with a whinny synth and heavy bass. At this point, if you are not getting up (or down as the title would imply) to dance then you are a communist. It is as simple as that. ZOMBIES! starts off in the midst of a thunderstorm and breaks into haunting synth riff doubled with a heavy kick. If you haven’t figured it out already, the breakdown comes right after the cheesy vocals stating the song title. In this song, for example, the breakdown comes in hot after the sample, “ZOMBIES!”, ya dig? The breakdown drops in with one of my favorite synthesizer riffs that rises upwards in to more chaos. The original mix is superior by all lengths; however, the Hot Pink remix is still, Hot. It’s very similar to the original because they dubbed over the original synthesizers with heavier electro synthesizers that sound a lot like electronic guitars. What really seals the deal on this remix is the extra synthesizer riffs they added in the middle of the song to make it their own but not too far from the original. Overall, it is a good complement to the original mix because it is more upbeat yet just as heavy. Enjoi:

Morning After Dark and Wolfgang Gartner

I came across some of these remixes about ten minutes ago, thanks to Rafa Alvarez and Chemical Jump, and they are so fresh that I had to post them immediately. The omniscient Wolfgang Gartner does it yet again and blows my eardrums with deep, heavy bass and electronic synthesizers. Now ordinarily, I am not the biggest fan of mainstream remixes but these are an exception to the rule because they're actually good, so trust me on this one.

To be honest, the intro to this song is really cheesy. And in my opinion, the vocals don't really match up as well as the Wolfgang Mix. However, there is no need to worry. The breakdown compensates for what the song is lacking. It's all about the bass and the high synthesizer. They combine to form an absolutely irresistible beat that makes just want to get up (or down) and dance. It seems very similar to Sbombers, in my opinion. So listen up and Enjoi:

Out of the two remixes, this is the better. Wolfgang Gartner matches the vocals perfectly with a hot and heavy electro beat. As is the case with the other remix, all I want to do is dance when I hear it. Only Wolfgang could make a mainstream song seem so fresh. Just listen and you'll know what I'm raving about (pun intended). Enjoi:

My computer is finally working! So to celebrate this momentous occasion, I'm giving you all more house music. On today's menu, freshly cut Emalkay served on a French roll with some Sebastian Ingrosso and topped off with some hot Leventina. And for dessert, the world renowned house chef, Wolfgang Gartner, bakes a delicious souffle. A full course meal consisting of all sorts of house music and dubstep has never been this good.

To start things off fresh, I am providing you all with dubstep. It's not Datsik, but it's still pretty heavy. The intro sounds almost like a horror movie with all of the ambient synth riffs that float in and out. But then Emalkay leads in to the breakdown with a really high and almost whiny synth and compliments it nicely with a slow dubstep beat. The vocal track is what really makes the song trippy because of the way it sneaks in and around the song. Enjoi:

This is actually a section of one Kaskade's mixes, The Grand. But this particular section really peaks my interest because it's a cool, laidback and powerful mix. This section is all about progressive house. It starts off with a deep bass line that consistently stays on the same chord throughout the entire section. But by adding in different instrument and tweaking the parameters of the synth, he puts an entirely new feel to the song. The bass builds up to my favorite part of the song, the synth riff. I'm actually ashamed that it has taken me this long to post this song. No matter how my taste in house music has progressed, this song has and always will remain awesome. The dramatic strings at the beginning help build up to the fun progressive house beat that lies within. All sorts of synthesizers collide to form the (albeit very subtle) chaos before the breakdown. Now it's time to take a break from all of the progressive house and time for some heavy electro synths. At first I thought it was a Daft Punk track because of the vocal track but I was pleasantly surprised to hear Wolfgang's heavy electro synths break it down. So just for S&Gs I decided to throw in a little bit of the chef's compliments. I recently came across this song and it's been growing on me ever since. Overall it's a pretty fun song to listen to. It's a cross between cheesy '80's music, progressive house and electronica. The intro is heavily influenced by '80's music but it builds up into a pretty dramatic synth. The cheesy lyrics come in and then it cuts out to a laidback synth solo. But the breakdown is by far the strongest part of the song. That same powerful synth drops in with chopped and screwed vocals adding a cool and trippy aspect. But wait there's more. The bridge to the next breakdown comes out of left field with the weirdest combination of synthesizers I've ever heard. Despite it's randomness, it seems justified in the overall context of the song. Of all of DatsiK’s work, this song is the most laid back. The intro is slow with a typical dubstep drum beat. But then he hits you with the bass and wobble that he’s so famous for. This song is actually pretty unique because it has a breakdown half way through. He uses the intro sounds and then brings an even crazier bass. Enjoi:

I’ve been debating for a long time whether or not I should post this song. The main electro synth gives the song it’s energy along with the catchy vocal synth. But then it breaks down in to a wobbly dubstep beat. The beat in question sounds good to me one day but then sub par the next. This song provides two things for you, heavy distorted bass and a good laugh. The intro is catchy because of the cheesy sci-fi sample and the dramatic strings that accompany it. But then Nero drops it in with distorted and wobbly bass that you can’t help but to nod your head to.
